Lupe Fiasco Calls Obama A "Terrorist" (Video)

“In my fight against terrorism, to me, the biggest terrorist is Obama in the United States of America. For me, I’m trying to fight the terrorism that’s actually causing the other forms of terrorism. The root cause of the terrorism is the stuff that you as a government allow to happen and the foreign policies that we have in place in different countries that inspire people to become terrorists. And it’s easy for us because it’s really just some oil, which we can really get on our own. I don’t vote. I don’t get involved in the political process because it’s meaningless, to be honest. I’m a real big believer if I’m gonna vouch for someone, then I’m gonna stand behind everything that they do. So politicians aren’t gonna do that because I don’t want you to bomb some village in the middle of nowhere.”

Nas: Bob Marley Was A "Great Inspiration," Wonders Where George Bush Is

In an interview with Billboard, rapper Nas speaks on a variety of topics from Bob Marley to George Bush.
After speaking on the Common/White House controversy earlier this week with MTV News, Queens rapper

Nas once again gave a little political commentary during an interview with Billboard.
In his interview Nas spoke on former president George Bush and how he seemed to have disappeared once his last presidential term was over.

"Where’s Bush? I been thinking we should see more George Bush, right now. He should be talking more. He should be standing next to Barack more. He should just be talking to the American people that he was once leading. I don't hear anything,” Nas explained to Billboard. “It's like someone who got away with something and doesn't want to show his face anymore. Or is it just that it's just no joke being a president and he needs a long vacation right now and he's staying away from cameras. But the bin Laden situation is something that I thought maybe we’d see Bush talk. I kind of would like to hear what he'd have to say about it."

On a lighter note Nas spoke on the impact of the late Bob Marley and how he’s proved to be a “great inspiration” to the rapper.

“Bob Marley’s impact is unmatched by any artist, ever. He stands alone like Beethoven. Like Stevie Wonder. Like Michael Jackson. He owns his block. There’s been nothing like him. There will be nothing like him,” said Nas. “And we don’t’ realize how old Bob would have been [if] he was alive today. He probably would have been what 70-something? But his music is timeless and it’s been a great inspiration to me and I had the honor to work with his kids: Damian, Stephen Marley, and meet a lot of his children.”

Nas also shared that he plans on working with Damian Marley on yet another project. In May 2010, the two artists released the joint album Distant Relatives

Katy Perry’s Mom Says She’s Lying About Her Upbringing!

This week’s issue of Star includes some very anti-scandalous statements, which allege that Katy Perry’s childhood isn’t exactly how she presented it in her recent Vanity Fair cover story. Of course, Katy’s version of her own upbringing was that it was a very stifling one in which she had to overcome many obstacles to grow into the form of a very “accepting” adult (who has somehow made an entire career out of a faux-lesbian scandal song). While Star somewhat rehashes the claim that Katy’s mother, Mary Perry Hudson, was scandalized by her daughter’s boobs and also talks some more about Mary’s upcoming book, it also makes the point that Katy is pretty much full of crap when it comes to her childhood story:
Despite insisting on respect from her parents, an enraged Katy sat down with Vanity Fair and gave her most candid interview yet — and some of her comments about her parents were not kind.
Katy moaned about her religious upbringing, saying her parents allowed her to read only the Bible and even banned terms like deviled eggs. “I didn’t have a childhood,” Katy said, insisting she’s nothing like her parents. “I come from a very nonaccepting family, but I’m very accepting.” Katy also described how she was told that the women’s health organization Planned Parenthood was nothing more than an abortion clinic.
But it’s all lies, according to her parents. “Katy had a normal upbringing, and we’re proud of her,” Mary told worshippers at a California church. According to Mary, their relationship with katy is no different than that of Miley and Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus, “whose children have risen to fame and live contrary to their parents’ beliefs.”
[From Star, May 30, 2011]

While I think that Katy’s parents are definitely a little bit crazy, it’s also pretty clear that Katy’s opinion of them conveniently changes in different interviews. Sometimes, she talks about their great relationship, and other times, she needlessly whines about not being able to say “devilled eggs” for whatever reason. Overall, everything that comes out of Katy’s mouth is all part of her carefully choregraphed image, which seems to promote the good-girl-gone-bad in a highly unoriginal way. Of course, we’ve already seen (as Kaiser has already astutely pointed out in regard to Dita von Teese) that even Katy’s boobs copy entire looks in an attempt to hypnotize the masses.

In other Perry-related news, The Smoking Gun has uncovered Mrs. Russell Brand’s tour rider, and DListed provides an excellent summary of Katy’s 23-Point Order for drivers (which ends, oddly enough, with a capitalized “Thank you!”) and her demand for cream-colored egg chairs, a glass refrigerator, a Presidential suite, and absolutely no carnations whatsoever. That last bit is a bit strange because, to me, Katy seems quite like the carnation among today’s pop stars; that is, she’s an unimportant, short-lived filler flower that shall soon wilt and be duly discarded amongst the coffee grounds and empty toilet paper rolls of our pop culture lives.

Lil' Kim and Keyshia Cole Exchange Words Over Twitter

Looks like Keyshia Cole is Lil' Kim's next target of beef, as the two exchange word over Twitter.

It looks like Nicki Minaj isn't the only female artist with whom Lil' Kim is engaging in an unnecessary beef. Earlier today, the Queen Bee and R&B icon Keyshia Cole exchanged jabs over Twitter over, and once again, Kim's feud with Nicki Minaj came to the forefromt of the issue.

Although details are sketchy as to how the tit-for-tat Twitter session started, Kim apparently took offense to one of Cole's Tweets that she and her "Let It Go" partner were not friends. Kim fired back at Cole, intimating that she betrayed her by working with her current arch-nemesis Nicki Minaj on her latest album Calling All Hearts's first single "I Ain't Thru."

N while we're addressing everything, Lil Kim and I a r not "friends" I take that term very seriously. We made wonderful music. That is it.less than a minute ago via Twitter for Android Favorite Retweet Reply
@keyshiacole U got that right. We are not friends. The same way U take friendship seriously i take loyalty serious.less than a minute ago via web Favorite Retweet Reply
@keyshiacole My love & loyalty to u got u a hit, ur friendship with ur friend got u a flop.less than a minute ago via web Favorite Retweet Reply
Cole attempted to diffuse the situation, thanking Kim for helping her provide her with a hit single on 2007's "Let It Go." But Kim still maintained that she felt disrespected by Cole's actions.
@LilKim Kim that was a gr8 look 4 I coming out of jail just as it was a gr8 look for missy to have produced it.less than a minute ago via Twitter for Android Favorite Retweet Reply
@keyshiacole Yes it was a good look for me but it was a great look for u. At the end of the day it was a hit on YOUR album.less than a minute ago via web Favorite Retweet Reply
@keyshiacole Sticking 2 the situation. Again I would have never let anyone disrespect U on my song. That's loyalty & respect. End of story.less than a minute ago via web Favorite Retweet Reply

Nicki Minaj Reacts To Trina's BET Award Snub

In an unusual show of solidarity between female emcees, Nicki blasts BET for not nominating Trina as one of the best female emcees.

Trina found herself absent from the list of BET Awards nominees despite dropping a mixtape, an album [2010’s Amazin’] and playing a prominent role on Ludacris’  2010 effort Battle of the Sexes. Trina was left off of a list of nominees for Best Female Hip Hop Artist that included Nicki Minaj, Diamond, Cymphonique and Lola Monroe. The latter two artists have yet to release a retail album.

Shout out to my big sis @TRINArockstarr she has always been my idol! I don't knw wut happen wit the nominations.. But she raised all of US!17 hours ago via Twitter for BlackBerry® Favorite Retweet Reply

Trina was rather short with her reaction to the preceived snub, posting “Fuck BET…” to her Twitter feed after the nominees were announced on BET’s “106 & Park” Tuesday. Nicki Minaj, who also appeared on a different version Ludacris’ “My Chick Bad” and alongside Trina on Yo Gotti’s “5 Star Chick” showed support for the femcee who would have essentially served as her competition if she was also nominated. She sent a similar message out via Twitter saying she wasn’t taking the awards seriously.

For her part, R&B sonstress Keyshia Cole also pointed out that she also hasn’t been nominated despite having seven number one singles. But she said she hoped that everyone who goes has a wonderful time. BET has yet to respond to the statements made by any of the artists.
